GARY Burk, Winemaker/owner, Costa de Oro Winery
While born into a farming family, Gary fell in love with music at an early age. After earning a degree in business from Cal Poly, SLO, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a musician and songwriter. Over the next few years, Gary played in Southern California clubs, including The Whiskey, The Roxy, The Palomino, At My Place, Coconut Teaser’s, and Club Lingerie, as well as studio work. He eventually came back to Santa Maria to pursue winemaking from the family property with his wife and longtime songwriting partner, Teresa Gasca-Burk. Today, Gary and Teresa have co-written and produced two children’s CD’s and Gary continues to play guitar and lead “The Expensive Winos” who play at Costa de Oro dinners and other wine-related events.
