Upcoming Events Sat, Apr 10, 2010 - Sat, Oct 9, 2010 : Free Winery & Vineyard Walk Series TIME: 12:00 AM - 2:00 PM LOCATION: Participating Santa Maria Valley Wineries & Vineyards
The Santa Maria Valley Wine Country will be hosting a series of free vineyard and winery walks throughout the Santa Maria Valley. In 2009, the vintners' assocation hosted a series of free vineyard walks that were so well received that they are now including winery walks for their 2010 series. On the second Saturday of each month from April to October, a different Santa Maria vineyard manager, or winemaker, will lead a tour of their winery or vineyard starting at noon. The tours will provide a firsthand look at different winemaking techniques that take place throughout the year. All vineyard and winery walks are free to the public; a great reason to get out to the wine country and learn something new. With the money saved, why not treat yourself to a wine tasting or bottle of wine for a picnic in the country? Take a break from the city and savor authentic wine country. VINTNERS ALREADY PLANNING TO CELEBRATE JOYS OF HARVEST 2010
“Annual Festival to Focus on Santa Barbara County’s Homegrown Wines & Cuisine”
SANTA YNEZ, CA – With the beginning of summer officially here, and the vineyards just in the early stages of
growth, it may seem that the Santa Barbara County Vintners’ Association is thinking a little too far ahead when
planning a festival centered around the 2010 winegrape harvest. But, “it will be here before we know it!”
exclaimed Jim Fiolek, Executive Director. “Winemakers are finishing up their 2010 barrel orders and scheduling
their summer bottlings. Vineyard managers are looking forward to the warm summer months to continue the
growth of what so far, looks like a stellar vintage. We’re all relaxing a bit and enjoying those crisp white and
rosé wines on our patios right now, but we know that harvest will come rushing at us. So, we’re going to be
ready to celebrate!”
The annual Celebration of Harvest festival will once again be held on the beautiful grounds of the Rancho
Sisquoc Winery, located on the outskirts of Santa Maria, on Saturday October 9th, from 1:00 to 4:00. The 100+
members of the Vintners’ Association will all be there, pouring their most current wines, and they will be joined
by over two dozen local chefs, caterers and specialty food purveyors to showcase the bounty of our unique
agricultural paradise. Per tradition, Vintners’ will be donating a plethora of large format bottle wines, special
dinners at their wineries and gift-boxed verticals for a Silent Auction, which will benefit local charities. And to
make the day even more festive, Sean Wiggins & One Lone Goat and The Laurel Street Jazz Band will
serenade guests with blues, jazz and original live music.
Celebration of Harvest, however, is more than just the festival itself! Visitors can purchase a “Vintners’ Visa” –
a four day passport for tastings and special offers at over thirty participating wineries – to take a leisurely drive
through the wine trails of the area, where many of the participating wineries are planning special events over the
weekend. For complete details and tickets, visit the Santa Barbara County Vintners’ Association website at
